Sue Fitzpatrick
Sue Fitzpatrick gained a degree in Pharmacology and joined the Pharmaceutical Industry in 1980 when she joined a Contact Research Organisation conducting Phase I trials.
She has been responsible for the management of CRAs and Clinical Trials in a wide range of therapeutic areas. As Associate Director of training with SMS she had the responsibility of training inexperienced CRAs both within SMS and the Industry as a whole.
Sue was elected to the executive committee of ACRPI (The Institute of Clinical Research) in 1991 in the role of Education Officer, a role she held for 11 years.
In March 2005 Sue became an honorary Fellow of The Institute of Clinical Research. As Academic Programme Manager she has responsibility for the strategic direction of the Institute/Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) Certificate in Clinical Research, Diploma and MSc in Clinical Research, as well as the Post Graduate Certificate for Clinical Trial Administrators.
Sue is a module leader for several modules and is an honorary lecturer at LJMU. She is currently setting up a new programme of postgraduate courses in collaboration with Cranfield University
Sue was also a member of the Pharmaceutical Industry Training Council and The Pharmaceutical Industry National Training Organisation and was instrumental in developing the first set of occupational standards for Clinical Research Associates.
Currently she is continuing her work on occupational standards with SEMTA the sector skill council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies.
She was a member of the GCP committee of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and helped develop a certification examination for Physicians and other research personnel.
